Furst we had Cafés. At these intellectuals would gather to pontificate, writers would go to purrfect their work. Coffee or tea could be had. Yet something was missing. Everyone felt lonely and there were few hairballs. And lo! Folks made a beeline for the feline cafes that have begun to appear. Though joy was meant to be had, something was still amiss. A lone voice stood and asked, "what about some edamame", "and booze" cried another, "and art" screeched a third. The people agreed, and meowmurs of discontent coursed through the metropolis. It was then that young Benjamin Kalb stepped forth and declared "don't worry y'all, I got you" and thus was Koneko, a Japanese cat cafe conceived and littered.

Located on the Lower East Side, time can be reserved with cats. These cats can be adopted. If one would prefer to sip a warm cup of joe, or a refined pot of tea, one can do so at the cafe, which is separated from the catspace by glass partition. If the temperamental beasts reject your affections, you may ask for wine, sake or beer to ease your pain. Snacks and sweets available as well.

Elegant design, art on the wall and yeah, Ben, it's all good.
